Managed Paths

Asked By: Dianna    Date: Sep 17    Category: MOSS    Views: 1051

I have a site collection that responds to http://Intranet. I want to add
future site collections - but within the current URL. So a new site
collection would be http://Intranet/Demo. Or http://Intranet/v6,
http://intranet/v7, etc.

Now, that site collection would need to exist on a different server,
different SSP, different application pool, etc.

Is there any way to accomplish this. I started looking at managed paths but
I think that is only part of my solution.

The first part is easy, just setup up Demo as a Explicit inclusion managed
path. If you want you can even put a wildcard inclusion path under that, So
you could have site collections at http://intranet, http://intranet/demo,
and http://intranet/demo/sites/foo

I don't think the second part of your idea is possible, as those are all web
app level settings. Unless I am mis-understanding what you are are getting
