log files

Asked By: Willis    Date: Jan 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 787

I just tried to add a web part to my page and got the following error:

The log file for database %databaseName% is full. Back up the
transaction log for the database to free up some log space.

What happened? How do I go about correcting this problem? I am not a
SQL DBA and do not know where to begin

NOTE: In the services of the SQL Server make sure SQL Server Agent is running.

Logon to your SQL Server and Open Enterprise Manager.

Expand Microsoft SQL Server > SQL Server Group > Servername/Local (Windows NT) >

In here you have the option to create a Maintenance Plan. Create a Maintenance
plan (straight forward wizard) and include the transaction logs. Make sure you
back it up straight away (change the date and time to back  up with the hour)
this is so that once its backed up you can right click on the Database in
question, goto properties > Transaction logs and delete. Alternatively you
should check you drive space  as i think its full  this is a common reason for
seeing that error.
