How to Load mulitple lines of text into

  Asked By: Viral    Date: Mar 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1346

We are using SharePoint 2007 SP2, and the programmer is accessing
SharePoint by using the Web Services.

My programmer has been able to read multiple lines of text from a multi
line text field in SharePoint, but he is having issues loading the
multiple lines back into the multi line text field.

Out of box multiple lines  of text  or notes field is not set to have
UnlimitedLengthInDo cumentLibrary as yes. You can do that through UI or through
code. So first setting the field to which the text is being copied over to allow
unLimitedLengthInDo cumentLibrary might help.

What kind of client application it is ?

Windows multiline text  box does not have same new line and other special
characters as Web based multiline text. Try using a rich text windows text box
instead of multiline text box...

I also remember people complaining that XML sometimes have problems with
formatted text. And the data passed over SP Webservice is XML, so may look into
that as well.

Thank you to all that replied. My developer did get some information from a
different group that he belongs to and has it working now.

Would you be willing to share that other groups information, links, etc.? It
never hurts to have multiple sources of information.

Each line in the multi text  box should be programmed with this around them:

& l t ;div& g t ; Stuff & l t ;/div& d t ; With no spaces except in the string
to add.

· sb.Append("<Field Name='Comments'>");

· sb.Append("& lt; div& gt; {1}& lt;/div& gt;”);

· sb.Append("& lt; div& gt; {2}& lt;/div& gt;");

· sb.Append("</Field>");
