Lists with lookups and templates for reuse

Asked By: Meera    Date: Mar 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1363

I'm trying to create an asset logging system through WSS using lists and
lookups for the catagories for the main 'asset' list.

On my development site sharepoint/it/dangerroom/ I created the lookup list,
populated it with the lookup choices I wanted (15 columns and around 27
rows).

I created my asset list with 20 columns (yikes didn't realise the list had a
20 column limit) and linked the columns to the lookup entries.

I set up the various different views on that asset list and tested it all
ok, it worked fine.

I then saved the catagories as a template with content to the site templates
area.
I saved the asset list as a template without content.

I created the production entries on my ITS WSS site, creating the catagories
list first then the assets lists, named them as I wanted them named (rather
than testassetcat and testassetdata) and not surprisingly the asset file
doesn't lookup to the catagories list because its not the same name as the
original test version.

So the question is, how can I amend the lookup reference on the asset list
to point to the appropriate catagories in the cats list?

I've had a look thru the asset list column options but all the specific
lookup columns don't have the option to rechoose the lookup source.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction for this?

Couldn't you delete and recreate the columns  that need to point  to the new
master tables?
