Listing sites from multiple site collections

Asked By: Tameka    Date: Oct 15    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1278

As our Sharepoint environment grows, we would like to add addition content
database to provide scalability of data growth. We would like to have one
portal with multiple site collections (each with its own database) hanging of
the one Web app. Here is the problem:

I would like our sharepoint users to be able to see all the sites they are a
member of on the main portal page....something like a Table of Contents Web Part
that spans multiple Site collections....

I assume you want this without custom code... Could you use a part in the
My site  space? You might find something in the Search suite as well, but of
course I'm just guessing wildly without any research.

I developed a custom web  part to do this. The web part checks each site
collection within web application to see whether the current user has access to
it, then lists the site  collections in a table  for displaying.

Your requirements may be different than mine, but it is doable programmatically.
