List(Document Library) Meta Data when attaching files

Asked By: Zane    Date: Jan 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1536

I’m at a client that has used list (document library) meta data fields to organize their files in a document libarary. They use a grouped view to see the files in their categories. The file names themselves are not that meaningful. The users are having trouble attaching files because it’s difficult for them to figure out which file they want from Outlook.

I’m at a loss as to how to get them out of this pickle. You can view properties in the open/save (i.e. Attach) dialog, however, it won’t show them like properties of the document.

Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to solve this problem that doesn’t involve them moving all of the files around? My thought is to get them into folders instead of meta data (as much as I hate that idea too.)
