New list not appearing under "Lists"

This is probably trivial but it's annoying me nonetheless.

I had a spreadsheet with almost 900 records that I imported in to a new
list called "GL Codes". Everything looks fine but I noticed immediately
that a link to the new list did not appear under "Lists" in the left
navigation menu. The list is fine and I can see it in SP designer and
with all other lists when I look at them.

Why wasn't the link automatically added like my other lists? Also, is
there a way to add it?

You should be able to go into list settings and click the button to add to the
quick launch bar. If that is not available I go into Site Settings and just add
a link to the navigation menu.

There was a checkbox to display it in the quick launch bar. I didn't know
that was an option.

Assuming you have MOSS, you could add the link on the Quick launch as follows:
site settings -> Navigation (Under look and feel)
Add link to the list section.
