List export and import

I have a Sharepoint 2007 dev farm and a prod fram. When the dev site is
set to be exporting and imported in to prod site, our Lists with the
"person or group" does not get imported on the prod server.

Why and how can we work around this?

Not People and Groups from the Site Actions -> Site Setting, but from
List Setting -> Columns -> Person or Group

Person or Group gets they name from the SSP (User Profiles)

Try here.. They have lots of extended STSADM commands that do more than just the
default command line.

I do not know of a native to SharePoint way to keep the permissions, but
I am using Metalogix migration manager and it has an option to keep the
permissions when moving from one server to another. I have used this
extensively and it works well.
