List Definitions

Asked By: Katie    Date: Nov 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 731

I have been given the unenviable task of developing List Definitions for new
SharePoint sites. I have been able to asily develop the XML for the site columns
and the site content types. I followed the instructions I have found bouncing
around the web for List Definitions, but have run into a snag - Views.

The List Definitions i create work except they don't display the correct view
when I create a list from it. Not only that, but the first view is the basic
attachment + Title view. In my content type, I have declared the Title to have a
Display Name of "Activity". If you click New Item, "Activity" shows up, but
"Title" still shows in the view unless I click on List Settings, click on
"Activity", and then click OK.

As the basic view will have 7 colums, I find this quite annoying. LOL Added to
that is the fact that the views are developed in CAML and my eyes start to fade
after a few moments. That is one annoying bunch of code.

Has anyone been able to develop List Defs from scratch where they can develop
the views as well?
