Using the same list CONTENT in many sites

Date: May 29    Category: MOSS    Views: 444

Pretend you have a list of customers and it is appropriate to show this same
content in many different WSS sites. And-- it is also appropriate to be able to
edit this list in any of these sites -- the result being that all sites 'see'
the new content. I.e.--- one master list for all sites.

Please-- where is this functionality hiding?---
Am using MS' BPOS environment, SP2007.

BPOS???????????????????????????

that was Microsoft's first attempt at SharePoint Online I believe.

Data View Webparts are one way to go about displaying data on different
sites

Do you have the content query web part available?

Answer #4    Answered On: May 29

Yes-- BPOS is MS' "cloud" delivery of applications, in this case-- SP.

Regarding the "content query web part" , no-- is not in my list of webparts--.
Is this a 3rd party webpart or OutOfTheBox?

"Content query"--- sounds like read only-- remem-- I wish to be able to edit
this"master" list from wherever it is painted.

At first I thought he was calling MOSS2007 a Big POS.

If the.show fits................

The content query webpart is only available if you enable Publishing. You
can use it to display content stored in one site in another site fairly
easily. But you will still need to go to the one site where it is stored to
edit the content.

Sorry; I glossed over the editing requirement.

So what about a Page Viewer WebPart? It's essentially an iframe. If the
data doesn't have to interact with the content of the current site, then
this should do the job.

I'll try the PageViewer WP-thanks!
