Links to Page Viewer Web part

Asked By: Bob    Date: May 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1716

I have a number of reports in SQL reporting services that I am currently
displaying via the page viewer web part. The trouble is that I think it
looks a little untidy and would preferably like to change things around
a bit.

The way I would like it to work would be a series of links in a link web
part, or CEWP, to the various reports that when I click on them, are
subsequently displayed in the Page Viewer Web part (or similar)

Here's the path:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft sql  Server\80\Tools\Reporting

They can be installed with the stsadm tool, check out this blog

RS 2005 comes with a Report Explorer web  part and a Report Viewer web part  that
are connectable. I can't remember offhand where they're located, but somewhere
within the RS installation files.

not sure about these... trouble  is that I am at site A with Reporting Services. Sharepoint server is at site B. Connection between the two sites is 2Mb Leased line.

The advantage of the page  viewer web  part is that the pages are rendered locally (if that's the correct terminology!!) so generating the report isn't having to travel up and down the link...

It seems to me that either way the report is still generated on the server and
the results sent to the client. the RS web  parts don't seem to be much more
than slightly specialized page  view webparts themselves, but i'm not sure about
that. regardless, the data travelling across the wire should be the same as far
as i can tell.
