Linking Two Lists

I have a list called Projects and I have a different list called acitivities on
a different site . Now i want to display a view where if i expand a project
various activities are shown and i should be able to edit the activities.

Please let me know is it possible out of the box or should i customize it. If i
need to customize please give me hints about the same as i am new to programming

Assuming the "different site" is in the same site  collection, you should be
able to configure almost what what you want using SPD. I also assume a MOSS
site, I have no experience with non-MOSS sites. "Almost" means: I don't think
there is a way to collapse/open the child items (rows).

I would like to know if this would be possible for Calenders.
please. I have several sites under one Big site  and they all need to
share calender information for various reasons.

Calendars are just lists. Anything you can do with a list, you can do with
a calendar.

Take a look at this blog posting. It provides you with the detailed
steps to roll up calendars to a master calendar. I think the steps
should provide you with some guidance.
