Add a link to portal navigation

Asked By: Zoe    Date: Oct 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1240

I am sure this is an easy fix but I cannot figure this out for the life
of me. I have created a separate web application for our Records Center.
I have added the portal connection in the site settings of the Records
Center but I need to add a tab link to the Records Center from the main
portal. I have looked in Manage Content & Structure but I cannot figure
out how to add a tab that links to the Records center. Is this possible
out of the box?

Manage Content and Structure will only allow you to work with things in
the same site  collection. You can add  a new tab  using the records
center URL in Site Settings -> Navigation.

If what you're asking is to add  a tab  to the top, if i'm not mistaken
it's under the site  settings, toplink bar.

Go to Site Actions > Site Settings > Modify Navigation. At the bottom
of the page you will see a tree for Global and Current Navigation.
Global Nav is the Top link, and Current Nav is Quick Launch. Click Add
Link in the Toolbar to add  a static link.

I found the area where I can do that.

From the portal, click on site  Action, Site Settings > Modify Navigation
and then from there I add  a link  to the Records Center.
