Link to M/S Access Database

I've just joined this discussion group today. There are a ton of posts
to wade through so if this question has been asked before, forgive me.
As a bit of background, I am still at the "beginner" level in
Sharepoint. I am building the company Intranet. That said:

I created a link on my Sharepoint top level page to a M/S Access
Database. It opens and operates flawlessly. Close Access and it
returns to Sharepoint. Beautiful. However, when navigating thru my
Sharepoint site (from parent to child sites and back again), the Access
database will randomly open itself again! Huh? What is up with that?
It does not matter if I am navigating by using the Back and/or Forward
button in IE, or by using the "links" in Sharepoint.

Do I have to write a line of code on the ASP page to close the
session? If so, what a P-A-I-N as I will be creating a lot of links to
