Link on a list to open a new window

  Asked By: Jordan    Date: Mar 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 1925

The current hyperlink column in a MOSS list does not provide a way to
display the URL in a new instance of IE. Does anyone know a way to do
this?

I tried the solution outlined in
sharepointsolutions.blogspot.com/...1_archive.html but I
could not get that to work with a custom MOSS list.

There are many ways to open  a link  in a new window, try the following:
JavaScript: window.open("http://xyz.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://xyz.com", "_blank");

Depending on the context, you may have to suffix that with one of the
following:
return false;
history.go(0);

So, as an example, the entire command would look like this:
JavaScript: window.open("http://xyz.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://xyz.com", "_blank");
history.go(0);

I must be doing something wrong.

I edit the SharePoint list  item and I attempt to modify the URL value of a
HyperLink column. I typed many combinations of these javascript commands
and MOSS won't let me set this value. It says: 'javascript:... is not a
valid URL'.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

URLs stored in SharePoint are comma space delimited.
