Limiting Search results to single site collection

Asked By: Mohammad    Date: Jan 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3840

I am trying to create a search scope that will only return results from the
root site collection.
Currently on the sharepoint home page I have the option to search All Sites,
This Site: Sharepoint Home, People.

When I do a search using "All Sites" I get results from all three of our
MOSS web applications, as expected.

But, when I do a search using "This Site: Sharepoint Home" i get results
from every site collection in the Web the web application I in.

I need to create a scope that will limit the results just to the current
Site Collection in the web application. Any ideas?

As you said, you need to create  a scope  for the site  collection, most likely you
need to use the Property Query for scope rule. Afterward, you need to add the
newly created scope to the search  dropdown.

Depending on the number of site collections you have, it could be a hassle to do
this manually.
