Learn SharePoint! Basic quaestion from a beginner

Asked By: Ken    Date: May 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1001

Could anybody answer these simple questions?

I would like to learn how to administer SharePoint and eventually learn how to
program it. I have extensive knowledge on web development and content

- Can I install it in a personal computer (vista)?
- 2007 o 2010?
- Is there a developer version that can be downloaded for free?
- What would you suggest to read/do to start learning this software?

Q3.) There are VHD's to download. Developers use visual studio 2008 or 2010.
Other roles might be able to use SP designer
Q4. ) Training from a MS provider is a good place to start. I had about a dozen
or so administrator type SP books and didn't quite understand how everything fit
I went to training for a week to understand the basic's and then ran with it.
