jpgs not displaying?

Asked By: Stacey    Date: Dec 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2304

I have just uploaded a bunch of graphics to various picture libraries.
All the thumbnails show up fine. But when I keep clicking on the image
to get IE to open up the graphic (i.e.
http://sitename/department/library/filename.jpg in the browser I get
the red X everytime) I tried some other jpgs off of our internet site,
uploaded them and they work fine. There is just something funny about
these. I even tried putting one in /_layouts/images/ to no avail. I
even put one jpg in our CMS resource gallery and published it on a
dummy page on our internet site and no -go. Red X. I've never had a
problem with graphics before but I was wondering if anyone has
experienced this before?

I experienced this same issue in WSS V2, but I didn't manage to
isolate the exact cause. I suspected it had something to do with
either the JPG compression or color depth, also how the images were
generated and/or exported to the JPG format.

Does this only happen with jpg's or does it happen when you use other
image types like bmp, gif, etc?

Are you sure that they are JPGs? TIF files do this, perhaps they are TIF
files renamed as JPGs? Just a hunch.
