Issues & Issue IDs

Asked By: Colt Golden         Date: Jan 01, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 238

I am semi-new to Sharepoint and setting up an Issues List. Everything is working well except for one thing....Every time some replies to an issue to update it, a new Issue ID Is generated for the reply and that seems to defeat the purpose. Example:

ID 1 - Project 1 Created

ID 2 - Project 2 Created

ID 3 - Project 1 updated with a reply

ID 4 - Project 3 Created

I would rather have the replies and updates have no Issue ID or maybe a 1a, 1b, 1c, etc... Anyone know if this is feasible or a good work-around?

There are 2 Ids - ID and Issue ID.

ID refers to the List Item ID and it keep on changing with each update. However Issue ID remains the same along all the updates  to the Issue.

Include both IDs (ID & Issue ID) in one of your view and observe the way they work.
