ISA 2006 & WSS 3.0

We have published SharePoint through ISA server and are having a few
issues with document management for users connected through ISA...

ISA is configured for SSL & redirects all http requests to HTTPS when
accessing SharePoint through it. SP sites have a valid SSL cert

When attempting to check out a document I get an error - "Value does
not fall within the expected range" - with the usual SharePoint I
don't know what happened page.

Sometimes when trying to edit a document in Word, it will seem like
it is opening correctly, only to have the word document have the ISA
login embedded in it..But other times it will prompt me for
authentication as it opens the file and load it fine.

It seems to do something different with company assets & personal
assets, as well as something different with libraries that require
check-out and those that don't.

Any ideas at where the problem may lie?

Is ISA blocking certain MIME types?

Blocking text/js might explain the code error. You might be blocking
documents or applications.

I would suggest joining a forum for ISA as this is clearly an issue that
has more to do with ISA than with SharePoint

It most definitely is an ISA issue, but I figured this group can
answer anything remotely SharePoint related
It turns out I had my ISA Web Listener redirecting to HTTPS but the
publishing rule was told to pass everything through HTTP on port 80
and was causing issues. When I told the publishing rule to redirect
SSL through 443 the issue went away.

I had the same problem yesterday on an issue completely unrelated
to SharePoint. That is an interesting coincidence it ended up being the
same thing.

I publish a few sites behind ISA 2004 and I've found that you need to
modify the HTTP Filtering for the publishing rule to remove the tick
for "Verify Normalization" before things work smoothly for WSS behind
ISA.
