IP restricted Portal Areas

Asked By: Bob    Date: Nov 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 16629

We have a SharePoint Portal 2003 implementation that we would like to add some security restrictions to. We want to limit people coming from different IP addresses to each area of the portal. I know I can restrict it globally through IIS (which is what we are doing today), but is there any way either through IIS, SharePoint or third party tools that we can restrict different IP addresses for each portal area?

i don't know of a way in 2003.

SharePoint 2007 has the ability to restrict IP addresses using a combination of IIS Web Applications and Zones (Intranet, Extranet, etc)

It still isn't a per-site restriction, it is a function of a web application.

You should be able to do this with ISA by creating different rules for the
different URLS. It won't be simple but it should work.

But in Internet browser there is an option check

Bypass Proxy Server for local address

If this check is enabled then how ISA restriction work.

Put the SharePoint server behind the ISA server so all users go through it.
It's not a proxy in this configuration. It's an application level firewall.
