Installation of Moss

Asked By: Antione    Date: Oct 31    Category: MOSS    Views: 730

I have found yet more problems with MOSS. I have just rebuilt my servers
from scratch, installed moss 2007 and done some basic configuration.
When I try to create a crawl schedule I get the following error message.
This is for the default crawl that is created when MOSS is set up. Does
anyone have an idea what this means. I have also tried creating a new
crawl for a web site and I get the same error when I try to specify a
schedule. No errors are recorded in the event logs.

First two apologies! With the e-mail below I included a picture of the
dialog box with the error message but it doesn't show as images are
removed. I should have realised and typed the error out rather than
cutting and pasting. Secondly I have found  a solution to the problem
anyway. So in case anyone else has this problem. The error was

Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005

and appeared in the dialog box which is used to schedule crawls.

The problem appears to be that some users do not have the appropriate
access to C:\Windows\Tasks and is fixed by giving them the correct
access. I found a couple of references to this with google but one was a
Microsoft LB article and that worked. The link is:

If anyone comes across the same problem. It is strange though because
this is the fourth time I've installed  MOSS but only the first time this
has happened. Ah well, such is life.
