New Install Question

Asked By: Lacy    Date: Apr 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 570

I recently started working with a staff person who has been trying to bring
up MS SharePoint 3.0 for months. I have just joined the organization. They
have installed it a number of times, but while all services- SharePoint,
IIS, and SQL7 seem to be running, it is impossible to get to the Default
web site or any website, a security error message comes up in the About
Internet page. It seems to say we have high security on and gives some
suggestions about reducing it. This should be a vanilla basic set up.

We followed the directions to somehow lower it, but we still cannot access
any websites. Is there something we're missing? I have only been a limited
SharePoint user.

are you trying to connect to the page  from the server itself ?. I'm guessing
that you have 2003 server sp1 installed  or 2003 R2 with its high security  ? If
this is the case try connecting from an xp client to see if thats better

you might try adding the site  to the IE Trusted Sites and see if that makes any
difference. Is Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration installed  on
the server?
