Asked By: Bennie    Date: Oct 23    Category: MOSS    Views: 814

My client wants to enter data using an infopath 2007 form. This data should get
submitted to a database and he needs a report on the MOSS portal site.

I can create a report using reporting services and show it in MOSS 2007. I have
not worked with infopath muc. Please let me know how do i submit data into sql
server from an infopath form.

Can you point me to some material which shows me how to do the same.

Whenever I need to write to a database from InfoPath, I typically
write web service that contains the arguments that I expect to
receive from InfoPath. You can then point InfoPath to your web
service. InfoPath will see your arguments, and send its form data  to
them. Your web service method just needs to be a simple INSERT
statement. I can send you code if you need me to.

From within InfoPath there is the option to create new "data sources"
and the ability to target a particular data  source as the target of the
form submission. SQL Server data sources can be created using a wizard
inside InfoPath. Very quick and easy.
