Indexing Path

Asked By: Roman    Date: Aug 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 789

Office SharePoint Server Search service asks for an indexing path

Each shared service provider (I have one private and one public) also
asks for a path.

Should they be the same? Or does that create a security issue where
indexes cross data.

Should I have one path:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office
Server\Applications\MossSearchIdx

And two others

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office
Server\Applications\SSP1Idx

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office
Server\Applications\SSP2Idx

It says these folders will be shared for propagation. What is this all
about?

I already put everything under the \Applications folder

I guess

stsadm.exe -o editssp

will let me change that?

It can be the same path, but for mgmt reasons, I usually put  each SSP's index in
a directory with the SSP's name.

So to clarify, the three paths should be:

Applications\MossSearchIdx

Applications\SSP1

Applications\SSP2

Or should they be

Applications\

Applications\SSP1

Applications\SSP2
