Incremental AD Imports - Replicating Directory Changes permission

I am in the position of having to prove that the necessary permissions (Replicating Directory Changes) on the service account used for AD imports does not create a security/stability problem in our AD (W2k) environment.

Does anyone have a pointer to any information to be able to move from a full to nightly incremental import, the AD guys are a little concerned.
