Inconsistent Dashboard contents

Asked By: Theresa    Date: Dec 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 790

My dashboard contents keep changing. One minute it looks
just as it should, the next refresh all of the categories
are missing or the news items do not show up, or
announcements are just listing document library folders,
then it goes back to the correct view.

I have sp1 installed and I am running it on a test server
that does not have anything using up resources on it.

Anyone have any ideas that could ease my frustrations???

I have more or less the same problem....the one minute  the home page is
there, and the next it comes up with that blank screen that tells you to add
content to your digital dashboard.

Check with users and security............

We seem to have a very similar problem. At random, the content of
the main Dashboard is displayed incorrectly. Then after X, it returns to
the correct  format. It seems to be quite random and with very little
explanation. In our case, this is happening most often with the categories,
where they are displayed incorrectly, but it seems to be a general problem.

This problem has to do with the proxycfg and DWP rendering.

Are you accessing always by server name, sometimes by server name and other
times by FQDN, or always by FQDN? If you go out to the SPS BIN directory and run
PROXYCFG, what does it show?

Proxy server is:
Flags =PROXY_TYPE-DIRECT | PROXY_TYPE_PROXY
Proxy Server = fakeproxy:80
Bypass List =*;*mericom.com;<local>

I have accessed it several different ways:
http://servername/mericomportal
http://ipaddress/mericomportal
http://servername.mericom.com/mericomportal

Has this database ever been on another server and migrated with MSDMBACK?

We are always accessing the server by
ServerName and not using the FQDN. When I run the proxycfg it shows the
following information:

E:\Program Files\SharePoint Portal Server\Bin>proxycfg

Current WinHttp proxy settings under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Connections\WinHttpSettings

Flags = PROXY_TYPE_DIRECT | PROXY_TYPE_PROXY
Proxy Server = proxy.aena.es:8080
Bypass List =
sc02010;intranet;89.1.*;*.aena.es;sc02118;localhost;server*;<local>

What would this indicate ? any other clues ?

We had a similar problem. if you don't have a proxy, try fake proxy and
either add sites to the exceptions (bypass) list or use '*'. we have set our
port to 80 as well. I have the same diagnostic query as Guy; If you access
SPS locally, you will probably find it displays correctly<?> using FQDN
produces errors?
Have you installed  SP1 as well?

Since I started this debate, I thought I would let everyone know what
I found to be the problem. I am using a fakeproxy setting of:

fakeproxy:80
*;<local>

I had this setup before noticing the problem. I also set my IE
settings to use fakeproxy port 80 with the exception of *

Still had the error.

Finally, I went into the sps/bin directory and typed proxycfg -u and
everything started working correctly!!!! It has been consistent for 3
days now, no problems.
