Incoming email timer job fail

Asked By: Gregory    Date: Dec 29    Category: MOSS    Views: 13998

I just want to test incoming email in library MOSS2007.
I set SMPT on local serve and set email id to doc library.

For testing.
When I send email, it goes to "c:/inetpub/mailroot/drop" folder.
But it doesn't go to doc library in sharepoint.
I checked timer job and found this.
"Windows SharePoint Services Incoming E-Mail " fails.
How can I fix it?
something wrong with SMTP setting or timer job?

I would turn trace logging to verbose in Central Admin for e-mail,
and see what that says. I would then restart the owstimer.exe service.

A few things to keep in mind:

1) When emailing to a library, only the attachments come in, not
the message. If there is no attachment it will fail  silently.

2) Depending on your permissions, the email  may need to come from a
user that already has access to the library
