incoming email setting

Hello
I am using MOSS 2007.Whenever i try to set incoming email settings in my site..i get an error "Error in Application". Till now i have configured a new virtual server in IIS, created a OU called sharepointdl in DNS,added a contact called fanmail in sharepointdl. Please tell me what further settings are required..i have been stuck for days..any help would be appreciated..
