Incoming Email.... error in the application

I know there have been questions about incoming email configuration in
the list before but my problem is slightly different. I can set up the
directory management service, but when I go to the doc lib and enable incoming
email then give it an address and click OK I get an "error in the application"

I have gone through all the set up steps multiple times, I am seriously
frusterated. Any help is greatly appriciated!

It is usually the incorrect permissions in Active Directory. Have you
looked at this article?

This will be likely a permissions error  or the OU is wrong within
sharepoint central admin in the incoming  email settings page as at
the stage you mention below it is trying to create a contact with
Active Directory.

Try (Temporarily) setting the Sharepoint service  account which the
app pool uses to Domain Admins (You may need a reboot). If this fixes
it then its definetly permissions.

To ensure the OU is correct I normally jump on a domain controller or
exchange server and run adsiedit.msc and copy the distinguished name
of the folder where sharepoint will create the contacts and then
paste it into that field.
