Incoming Email does not work.

Asked By: Rishi    Date: Dec 08    Category: MOSS    Views: 2410

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.

We have followed the excellent instructions in "How to configure
Incoming Email Enabled Libraries...". We can send an email to our
MOSS portal (MYLIST@...). The email makes it to the WFE
server, but it gets dropped in c:\inetpub\mailroot\Queue.

I have a document library called Test Incoming. On the settings page
( _layouts/EmailSettings.aspx?List=%7BBD1944CF%2DD096%2D4101%2DB88D%
2D3210AE811527%7D)

I have it configured as follows:

Allow this document library to receive e-mail? YES
E-mail address: TEST@...

Group attachments in folders? SELECTED Save all attachments in root
folder
Overwrite files with the same name? YES
Save original e-mail? NO
Save meeting invitations? YES
E-mail security policy: SELECTED Accept e-mail messages from any
sender

Pressing the OK button on this page results in:

Error in the application.

Incoming email is enabled from the _admin/IncomingEmail.aspx page.

SETTINGS

Enable sites on this server to receive e-mail? YES
Settings mode: ADVANCED

Use the SharePoint Directory Management Service to create
distribution groups and contacts? YES

Active Directory container where new distribution groups and
contacts will be created:

OU=SharepointDistributionLists,OU=DistributionLists,DC=root,DC=XXX,DC
=org
Accept messages from authenticated users only? NO

Allow creation of distribution groups from SharePoint sites? NO

E-mail server display address: MYLIST@...

E-mail drop folder: c:\inetpub\mailroot\drop

As an extra test, I turned off any email virus scan software?

Can anyone tell me why this is not working? Why will the Incoming
email settings page not accept the settings?

Normally the "error in application" error  is generated when the Central
Admin app pool account doesn't have correct permissions to the OU you
specified. Can you doublecheck that? One way to do so is to run Active
Directory Users and Computers as the app pool account and try to create
a contact in that OU.
