Inbound Email NDR on SPS 3

Asked By: Geena Ma.         Date: Mar 12, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 340

I'm trying to configure inbound email on a discussion board and have
followed the instructions given in SP Help. However, when I try to send
an email to it, I get a DNS NDR as shown below:

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

Cape Cod Talk on 2/13/2009 10:43 AM

The destination server for this recipient could not be found
in Domain Name Service (DNS). Please verify the email address and
retry.

I've googled for a solution but I couldn't find anything for this
specific problem. Has anyone run into this and know the solution?

I assume you've checked that DNS "A" and "MX" records exist for the
domain suffix being used for the email, and that the client (and any
intermediate SMTP servers) can resolve them?

turns out DNS hadn't propagated across all
servers. Forcing it fixed the NDR issue.

But now, all the email  sent to the server  is hung in Exchange
queue...

I'm not sure how exactly your routing is setup, but it sounds like
things are getting misrouted. Either the Exchange server  doesn't know
how to relay on to your local SMTP server (or you are using one) or you
haven't setup Exchange with the correct Connector to route the messages
directly into a dropbox.
