Importing Microsoft Web Part

Asked By: Kiel    Date: Mar 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1060

Whenever I'm trying to add Web Part from the Microsoft Galley I'm getting the
following error:
"Http error retrieving Web Part (400)
This may be due to the current dashboard proxy server setting, which can be
changed using the proxycfg tool . . ."
I don't have a proxy and I could not solve it using the proxycfg tool. What to
do?

I'm researching the S.P. portal and trying to determine what to use the Team
Services or the Portal, in collaborating the S.P. & Outlook & MS Project. If you
have any input please feel free to express your opinion.

our server  needs an internet connection, because he has to
get those web  parts from the site of MS.
Secondly, even though you have no proxy  server, you need to configure a fake
proxy. You should read the readme file : everything is explained there.

When you run the proxycfg tool, what switches are you using? I normally
run the following:

proxycfg -d -p fakeproxy:80 "*;<local>"

It works fine for me after running this line.

Also, it all depends on what your requirements are for SharePoint. Both
SharePoint utilizes Outlook in some form or another but the differences
between SPS and STS is that SPS has a document management system (check
in, check out, versioning, discussion) and STS doesn't. STS is more
geared toward a department, division, group, team, etc within a company.
Project 2002 interfaces with STS only because it can only view the
document vault of STS and has no interface with the vault for SPS. I
view STS as SPS lite, it's just a lesser version of SPS.

However I progressed from error  # 400 to error # 404.

It has the same description. I read the Read Me file & white pages & help from
the group. What am I missing ?

I'm sorry, but that just literally made me laugh out loud.

It is I again. I'm happy to say that it seems that your suggestions did their
magic and it is working.

The 404 error  seems to be coming from the MS Outlook, the application that is
part of the Office XP. If the application is not functioning properly the
related web  part can not work as well.

In my case the Notes functionality works great and the related web part  as well,
but the Contact has some issues and I cannot create a contact in the outlook  and
therefore I'm getting error # 404.

Please note that the description of the errors, 400 & 404, is the same.
