Importing contacts

Asked By: Eve Frederick         Date: Sep 18, 2008      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 126

I want to import a list of contacts. I can put the contacts into a spreadsheet
and import the spreadsheet by Create\Custom List\Import Spreadsheet. However,
that does not give me the 'Connect to Outlook' option. Is there a way to create
a contact list and import a spreadsheet, or add a 'Connect to Outlook' to a
custom list?

Create the contacts  list from the list  template, then use DataSheet view
in the new list to copy-and-paste the contacts from the original
spreadsheet into the list. You must use the contact  list template to
get the "Connect to Outlook" option  - other list templates (including
custom) do not include it as you've seen.

I have the contact list  in Outlook and Sharepoint synchronizing fine.
However, custom fields in Sharepoint are not brought into Outlook.
Example:
"Custom1" field in WSS contact  list does not map to
"Custom1" field in Outlook contact list.

Is there a way to do this?
