Cannot import a site template .wsp file VS 2010 WSP Import Package

I'm getting this error message when trying to import a site template (.wsp)
file as a VS 2010 'Import SharePoint Solution Package'.

"The SharePoint solution import operation completed, but with errors. As a
result, the project may not deploy successfully".

Have you googled this error? There are quite a few hits, including some
forum posts with possible solutions.
