Implementing SharePoint

Asked By: Tanya Ramos         Date: Oct 08, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 180

Our admin suggested to implement SharePoint 2007 for the collaboration purpose.
I just got confused with the decision whether to go with SharePoint 2k7 or 2010.

Can anyone suggest on this?

I think it is too early to consider 2010 which is only in beta. The
advantage of 2007 is that many third-party add-ons are available and it is
very much tried and tested. Leave 2010 until after it has been released and
has a service pack that works.

For Collaboration SharePoint 2007 will work well and you might even just
look at the benefits of full SharePoint over Windows SharePoint Services.

Have a look at this article http://www.office-talk.com/index.php?id=78

SharePoint 2007 is the way to go, but since SharePoint 2010 will only support
64-bit environments, please make sure that you install MOSS on a 64-bit server.
