I have an image that has been uploaded directly to our live server,
rather than deployed as part of a package, when logged into our site the
image appears, when you are not logged in you get the usual browser
image placeholder with the red cross.

I have checked the permissions, set to web site visitors = read, it is
checked in and approved, but for some reason it will not appear if you
do not login.

You can test this by going to www.trustcorgi.com, you will see a
'teaser' on the home page called "Carbon Monoxide Kills", with the image
placeholder next to it. If you then register and go back to the front
page it appears!

Can anyone help?

Make sure that the iUSR_computername user has NTFS rights to the image  that
you placed on the server. I suspect anonymous users don't have access to
the file itself.
