ifilter for .pdf on both the web server and the sql server

Asked By: Javon Mcknight         Date: Jul 02, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 242

I have installed the ifilter for .pdf on both the web server and the
sql server (SPS is in a Server Farm config.). I have deleted the file
and re-uploaded the file after the ifilters were installed and still
am not able to search .pdf content.

I am dealing with some virtual servers(SQL is not, IIS is). This has
caused problems in other areas, don't know if it would here.

Have you added .PDF extension at
http://portalservername/_layouts/1033/FileTypes.aspx ?

also you might want to reset and re-index content  after you add the extension (and pretty logo file).

If my memory serves me, you need the filter on the web  server(s), the index
server(s), and the search  server(s). As mentioned in other replies, you need to
add the extension, plus any changes to extensions and ifilters  requires a full
index rebuild.
