IE 7 Crashes

Asked By: Reed    Date: Jul 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 608

I am using IE 7 along with Office 2007. Everytime I try to open an
Office document on a Sharepoint site, I receive an Internet Explorer
error message: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs
to closse. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I send the error
report, but who knows where that really goes? After I either hit Send
or Don't Send, the browser closes and that's it. This was happening on
a machine I've had a while. However, I just built a new machine so
everything is a complete new install, thinking a new build would
resolve my issue. Is there something about the combination of Office
2007 and IE 7 that makes the browser crash? I've been putting up with
this for a while, but since it's happening on a new machine, I'm going
to finally complain about it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Trying doing a repair on the office  Suite, or look at this

It is usually because you have a couple different versions of office
dlls on the client.

I think if figured it out. I have several office  components on the
machine, so I changed the dll (can't remember the exact dll right now) and it
seems to work.
