Any ideas how this was done?

I came across this article

sts/Post.aspx?ID=47> which was written in 2007. I'm trying to
reproduce a similar app for my organisation but have hit a couple of
problems.

The first one being that in SPD I'm only able to create a single
connection between the search & what I assume is a SharePoint List
viewer webpart (Freight Claims From Seach in his example)

The second one being, I can't work out how he would have linked the
Freight Claims from search webpart to the Freight Claim info webpart.

Does anyone have any ideas how these things might have been done?
