Icons Size in Portal Listing

I am trying to increase the size of icons associated with portal
listings.

Icons associated with listings are rendered at 16X16 pixels, which is
too small for my purposes.

Context for this is a departmental sub-area which has about 8
documents to be highlighted, each with stock art. I am tempted to use
a News component, as the icons there render about right... but I'd
prefer to stick with portal listings if there is a way to bump up the
icon size.

... JUST learned that area listings also show in News, so I guess
this solves it: add through listings but display news on the area
home. Are there any issues that I should be aware of here?

At some point I might still want to control the size of the icons, so
if anyone can help me do this it would be greatly appreciated.

The icons are not rendered at any specific size in the HTML - they are
just displayed at the size that they are in the image files. So you
should just be able to save larger versions of the icons over the
existing image files.

If you open up c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\XML\DocIcon.xml, you will see a list of all the
icons associated with document types. This will be the list of icons
that you need to change.

The icon images are all stored in c:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\IMAGES. Make
larger versions of each of the ones in the list, and replace the ones in
this folder with the larger versions.

I believe you that this will work for the file-type icons, as I see
there are no size spec in the tags.

However, what I am trying to do is keep my own icons added to
individual listings (which are 50X50 px) from being shrunk down to
16X16 which is written into the image tag for any image included with
a listing as an "icon"

(The add listing dialog allows you to specify both image (for body)
and icon (for listing 'headline')

Right now I'm using News to view my listings which seems to work OK.
Still, I'd love to know how to override the 16X16 setting.
