Icons don't display next to search results

Asked By: Brandon    Date: Jul 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1539

In my search results for EVERY file type I get the box with red X in
it instead of the associated file type icon. I know that this is a
problem with PDFs but this is for all office applications as well.

Right-click the little red  x-box and select Properties; then copy the URL in
the dialog and see if you can hit it directly in your browser.

The URL in the properties box  is just the url to the search  page,
doesn't have a url to a graphic file

Try installing IFilters and see how it goes.

are u not getting the icons  for all the documents or for specific documents ?

It is for all documents. I have actually resolved this though.
Thanks everybody for your input.

The problem with with the docicon.xml file. Somebody (searching for
who now) must have went into there and messed something up. After
correcting some mistakes and restoring back to good valid xml
document with all appropriate mappings icons  are back and working.
