Are the MOSS and WSS hotfixes independent of each other? So if I'm running
MOSS, do I also need the WSS hotfixes or are they included in the MOSS ones?

Answer #2    Answered By: Arron Middleton     Answered On: Nov 26

I believe the answer to this is that they are indeed independent.

Much in the same way that WSS v2 and SPS 03 were, you had separate service
packs with one another as they are different things.

WSS is your platform
MOSS is your application server that leverages the WSS platform

Remember, these are hot  fixes not service packs. You only apply them if you need
them. You can be certain that they will be included in SP1.

Any idea when our friendly developers yonder at the Microsoft code fix /
enhancement / opportunity factory are going to push SP1?

Right now it is Q4 this year.

Curious, but what's your source?

Answer #7    Answered By: Deonte Stein     Answered On: Nov 26

I too would like to know your source Mike.

I've heard Mike Am say that they will have SP1 out by the end of the
year. But, like I previously said, I don't think that Microsoft knows
yet when SP1 will be released.

"The service pack is scheduled for release in Fall 2007 (5+ months) and
there will be a beta preview of the service pack this summer. "

This was communicated to us recently by a SharePoint escalation engineer
who had been in communication with the hot  fix team.

MS is certainly telling its customers Q4. Regardless, I take the above
timeline with a grain of salt...

I got it from an internal person who told me they were shoot for Q4, but were
also busy with v.14
