In SP2010 I need to restrict the list of available standard site templates so that a user can only create certain sub sites. I know that it's possible to edit the webtemp.xml etc under 14\template\1033\xml but I'm worried that editing system files is a bad idea since they may get overwritten by future service packs and also need to be done on each web server - uhh! Any ideas on a better solution?
