How to hide columm in WSS 3.0 (NOT MOSS)

Asked By: Clifton    Date: Oct 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1474

I got a list name Request Form, inside the request form have a few columns. I
would like hide some of the column for members or readers. Only adminstrator can
view and edit the certain column in the list. As i know that in WSS don't have a
targeting audience. Any idea how to solve this problem.

There are freeware utilities at www.codeplex.com that allow you to
set the visibility of columns  for user groups at create/view/edit
time, as well as configure default view and visibility of views for
user groups. I think they should work for WSS only environments.

SPListDisplaySetting lets you set display/edit permissions for a
list field - http://www.codeplex.com/SPListDisplaySetting

SPViewPermissionSetting lets you set access rights to views and
default view per group - http://www.codeplex.com/SPViewPermission
