Hidding unauthorized documents/folder

Asked By: Hannah    Date: Dec 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 716

Right now, i'm developing document management website for my company
using share point portal server. The company is dividing into some
division (IT, Finance, Marketing, etc).
Each division will have their own documents, news, etc.

For this purpose, on each division, i create different folder for
each dashboard. For instance, in case of news dashboard,
under "Portal Content\News" directory, i create
directory "IT", "Finance", and "Marketing". Each directory can only
be seen by user of corresponding division. This is done using role

My Questions are :
1. is my implementation right ?
2. After i create each directory, i want users from division IT can't
see Finance documents. What happen now is, although this is true, but
IT's users still can see folder name of finance division. How to hide
the Finane document folder name, so for IT user, it seems that in the
system, there is only folder IT there.

you are implementation  is correct. Create sub dashboards for different
departments and import news, announcements, events web part. Inside.Edit
these web part (click on Content->Advanced Settings, then edit the "Store
the following data" piece to have the first line be this new directory.
Actually put in "/Dashboards/ /News/IT" without the quotes).
