There is no way to rename it back  using the user interface. You will need to
create a small console application and use the object model to change  it back.
The following BLOG explains the problem and the code necessary to fix it.

The more and more i get into Sharepoint, it does not seem to be very
friendly in customization. This is amzaing i have to create an
application just to change  the column  name. Am i crazy or are you
finding that sharepoint does not offer many options with out alot of
work.

When i do this, i have a virtual pc that does not have the sharepoint
on it, does shaerpoint have to be on the same server as the visual
studio? When i did run the application i got this error:

{"Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Library,
Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'
or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file
specified.":"Microsoft.SharePoint.Library, Version=12.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"}

I had to copy the single dll from the sharepoint server over to my
2007 virual pc

SharePoint custom code must be run on the SharePoint server. If you want to
access SharePoint data from another box then you will need to use xml Web
Services. So yes, the easiest way to develop is to have Visual Studio installed
on the SharePoint server itself.

If you had changed  anything other than the reserved "Title" field you would have
been able to change  it using the user interface. The Title field is special and
I do wish they had written SharePoint to prevent users from changing it.

I found this tool:
www.sharepointblogs.com/.../content-
types-title-column-rename-issue.aspx

it worked, but it appears that i have to go to each list on each site
and change  the name that i had Item back  to Title. Does anyone know
if there is a better way, if you go look at the site  contents and
choose Item the column  name was changed  back to Title.
