Help with Sharepoint 2007 beta II - wont create web application

Asked By: Dale    Date: Oct 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 972

I recently installed sharepoint Beta2:

VPC
Windows Server 2k3
SQL 2005

I was able to install Sharepoint and the admin site launches without
any problems. When I 'Create New Web Application' sharepoint does
not configure IIS correctly (no site created).

Sharepoint will allow me to create a 'Sharepoint services site
collection'. I get the message 'Top-Level Site Successfully Created '

But this does not work when I try to browse to the new site:
(http://lee-tx8kkl0keb:12077/sites/Test) This is no suprise because
the referenced sight was never created as stated earlier in IIS.

No errors in the event log after creating the web application.
After creating the top level site I get the following error messages
in the event log:

#1 Event 5714 - Safe mode did not start successfully. This page has
encountered a critical error. Contact your system administrator if
this problem persists.

#2 Event 5774 - http://lee-
tx8kkl0keb:12077/sites/Test/_catalogs/masterpage/TabViewPageLayout.as
px - An unexpected error has been encountered in this Web Part.
Error: This page has encountered a critical error. Contact your
system administrator if this problem persists.

#3 Event 5774 - http://lee-
tx8kkl0keb:12077/sites/Test/_catalogs/masterpage/SearchMain.aspx -
An unexpected error has been encountered in this Web Part. Error:
This page has encountered a critical error. Contact your system
administrator if this problem persists.

Anyone have any clue about why Sharepoint is not creating sites and
wont run. Its really tuff becuase the processes complete normally
and dont indicate any errors (aside from the event log).

Please help, I have been trying to get 2007 to run for 2 days now.
