Do you have the proper asp.net and stuff installed  on it? That would be my
first guess

Check the port number on the Virtual Web Server that Sharepoint Creates
during the install. Go to IIS MAnager and Check under Web Sites
"Sharepoint Central Administration" and make sure the site is running
and that port number is 5948

I just installed version  2 on a windows  2003
server. Although the install went well, I am facing
some issue. The only way i was able to create a new
virtual website. "Default Web Site" never worked for
me.

My problem is when i tried to create "Document
Workspaces" i used "same permission as parent site"
while doing it is asking for Authentication. Even if i
pass the username and password correctly i am getting
error.

"Access denied. You do not have permission to perform
this action or access this resource. Access request
are not enabled".

I don't know where i had made mistake.

There are some issues to the Beta product, Microsoft is going to release the
new beta 2 of SPS 2003 they must have realized it as per the MCS guy I had
met , in it they have rectified most of the issues, may be u can check the
site

Did you install on Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 RC2? The
release notes specify that only RC2 is recommended.

Some have reported that they were able to get it to work on 2003 RTM,
but many have enough problems just with following the directions, so why
would anyone want to stray?

I have installed  it on Windows
. NET server 2003 Standard Edition RC2
Can you give me any solution for solving this issue.
Any information in this regard will be very much
appreciated.

Yep, I have/am running a lab box with the Win2003 RTM and so far have
not run into any issues that I can associate with the RTM. I am guilty
of not following the instructions. I have set up a few beta 2 SPS v2 for
clients but I really push the fact that it is beta and only supported on
RC2.

It works - at least as far as I can tell on the RTM.

I am using Windows .NET Server 2003 Standard Edition
RC2.

What is the difference between RC2 and RTM.

Any information in this regard to solve this issue
will be very much appreciated.

I have it running on the RTM and found absolutely no problems while
installing, configuring or using SPSv2

Can not tell you the exact differences because I don't follow that
product at that level. Probably bug fixes for the most part. I do not
know if there were any major changes between RC2 and what was released
to manufacturing. The docs state it is only supported on 2003 RC2 which
at the time the beta came out was the ver that they had proved it ran
on. It might be that RTM is fine, it is just that the docs do not state
that the beta code has been tested and verified on that version  of 2003.
