Any help on document library Auditing

Following is my requirement for documnet library,
I want auditing the sharepoint document library i.e when some user open documnt then logs should be generate .
I m not getting logs when document is open ,logs are generate only when the docs are modified or save, check in ,check out.
Any idea for this .it's very urgent.
** logs should be generate when user open the documnet library

Not out of the box for SPS2003. I heard that in MOSS 2007 this will be possible.

Syntergy has an auditing  tool that will record things like that.

I know that product is available . but i wanna dio it myself.
I want code to copy event handler action in sql database to percular document  
any one know pls. let me know

I don't have anything similar to that at the moment, there are some code samples that Microsoft provide available for download that should get you started.

Here is a link for downloading the document  library event handler toolkit supplied by Microsoft. That should at least give you the framework to get what you need done


Here is a link for enabling event handlers in SharePoint services. You will need that for any event handlers you write.
